International Day of Women 👩‍🔬 in Science 2026

Today, we celebrate the International Day of Women 👩‍🔬 in Science 2026. 

This International Women in Science Day, I want to pause and recognize the women and underrepresented minorities whose brilliance, persistence, and courage continue to shape science—often in systems that were not built with them in mind.👩‍🔬 💡 

➡️ Scientific progress has never been driven by talent alone. It is driven by people who ask difficult questions, who persist after being overlooked, who innovate while carrying the extra weight of bias, doubt, or invisibility. Women and minorities in science have always been here—discovering, teaching, building, healing—whether or not history chose to remember their names.

➡️ Celebrating diversity in science is not about symbolism; it is about truth. Breakthroughs are stronger when they reflect a wider range of lived experiences. Curiosity deepens when more voices are heard. The future of science depends on environments where everyone is empowered to contribute fully, authentically, and safely.

➡️To the women and minorities pushing boundaries in labs, classrooms, startups, hospitals, and fieldwork around the world: your work matters, your presence matters, and your impact reaches farther than you may ever see. Thank you for advancing knowledge—and for reshaping what science looks like for the generations coming next.

I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from so many different women and members of minority groups. Their presence in my life is a daily source of inspiration. 💜 

👉 We must support each other, including encouraging men to support us through their male-allyship. Only this way we can achieve equity and justice.
